Welcome to the Ottawa Ukrainian Community web site!

This web site was established by the Ottawa Branch of the Canadian Friends of Ukraine as a service to the Ottawa Ukrainian Community, which has so generously supported our humanitarian and educational work from the very beginning.

Its purpose is to provide our Community with a single source of current information on a variety of topics as a means of strengthening its sense of identity, and unity of purpose. Just explore the navigation menu above, and you'll quickly see its potential. To be successful, this site needs several things:

  • Current information -- Please e-mail the Webmaster with notices of events, about which you would like to notify the Community. (e.g. dances, concerts, lectures, church suppers, interesting pictures about the community, new businesses opening in the community, etc). They will be quickly posted for free for all to see;
  • Sponsors -- It costs a lot of time and effort to maintain this site. Sponsorship by a few businesses would make a great deal of difference in the quality and quantity of our content. If you know any potential sponsors, please inform theWebmaster by e-mail;
  • Volunteers -- We need people who will channel information to our Webmaster for posting, as well as people who would like to generate content for the site;
  • Advertisers -- The "Buy & Sell" and "Services" sections advertise goods and services to the Ottawa Community. It is not free. We ask that all advertisers make a voluntary contribution to the Canadian Friends of Ukraine or the Canadian Children of Chornobyl Fund, in support of our humanitarian and educational work in Ukraine; and
  • Users -- This is our greatest need. Without users this site will wither and die. Instead, let's make it alive and vibrant, full of current information, and the place to first come to when we need to find out anything about our Community. Please support the businesses listed on our site. They are us -- and we must support our own Community!

It's high time that we as a community plugged into and benefited from the electronic channels of available information. We encourage visitors to read the terms and conditions of usage. If you have any questions or suggestions, or would like to participate, please contact the Webmaster.
