Configuring Trumpet Winsock

If there is no icon to start Trumpet Winsock,you can use File Manager and double click on tcpman.exe which will launch Trumpet under Win3.1.

  • Click File and then Setup:
  • Enter the Name Server as 206.191.48.2 206.191.48.3 (Our DNS1&DNS2, separated by a space)
  • Remove the check beside Internal PPP
    • Change the IP address to 0.0.0.0
    • Change the Netmask to 255.255.255.0
    • Change the Default gateway to 0.0.0.0
    • Change the Packet vector to 00
  • For a modem/PAP connection, use
    • MTU=512
    • TCP WIN=2048
    • TCP MSS=512
  • Replace the check beside Internal PPP
  • Change the SLIP Port to that of your modem COM port
    • Change the Baud Rate to that of your modem
    • Hardware Handshake is checked
    • Van Jacobson CSLIP compression is not checked
    • Online Status Detection can be DSD (RLSD)
  • Click on OK
  • Restart Trumpet for the new settings to take effect

The next thing that needs to be setup is the number for dialing in and the authentication information.

  • Go to the Dialer menu and click Setup.CMD
  • When you run the script, you will see the following:

There is a second place you need to enter the username and password.

  • Click File and PPP Options:

Those are the basics of Trumpet Winsock. To connect:

  • Go to Dialler and Click Login.

Minimize Trumpet when you're connected and set off on the internet.
