Configuring Microsoft Outlook Express
Microsoft Outlook Express is the email client that is installed with Internet Explorer 4.x. It has many features and is an easy to use email program.
  • The main Outlook Express window:
  • Send and Receive will send all queued email, as well as check the email for all accounts configured in Outlook Express. If you have multiple accounts, then click on Tools, Send and Receive
This is the standard setup for an email client. The email boxes are located on the left pane, the header information on the upper right, and the message body on the lower right. To configure an account, click on the Tools menu and go to Accounts. All the accounts configured in Outlook Express will be listed here. Click on the Account, and then Properties:
  • On the General tab, enter your Name and email address (return email and organization is optional).
    • Include this account when doing a full Send and Receive includes this particular account when the Send and Receive button on the main toolbar is used.
  • Under the Servers tab:
    • Enter your Outgoing mail (SMTP), Incoming Mail (POP3), and account information (username and password).
    • We do not use Secure Password Authentication or Outgoing Mail Server authentication.
  • The Connection tab:
    • Set the DUN Connection here, preferably the same connection you normally connect to. Otherwise Outlook Express will disconnect and re-connect to the connection selected here.
  • Click OK and then Close to finish.
