Configuring MacOS 8.5 Remote Access
Apple Remote Access can be launched by clicking on the Apple,
going down to Control Panels and selecting Remote Access
The Remote Access Status window will open:
- Click on the blue arrow (triangle) to the left of Setup,
and it will point down and reveal the authentication screen:
- Here are the entry areas for Name, Password, and Number.
- Enter your username, password and our internet phone#.
- For more advanced settings, click on Options...:
- Click the Protocol tab:
- Ensure that PPP is selected under Use protocol.
- Allow error correction and compression in modem and Use TCP
header compression are the standard settings that also should be selected.
- Click OK to return to the authentication screen.
- If you require a manual login (that is, when you're not getting
logged on otherwise) select Connect to a command-line host, which
will bring up a terminal window (below) when you connect.
Here is the main dial screen.
- Click on Connect to get on the Internet.
- After a connection is made, you will be given some additional info
in the Status window:
- Click on Disconnect when you are done with the session.
