Configuring Remote Access for the iMAC

In order to utilize Open Transport/PPP on the iMAC, you utilize Apple Remote Access 3.0 client. The Remote Access control panel accepts the information for PPP access.

Step 1 - Setting Modem Type

  • Click on the Apple Menu
  • Go to Control Panels
  • Click on Modem
    • Modem (type) should be set to iMac internal 56K by default:
    • If this is not set, then set it now.
    • If it is set, simply click on the down-arrow, and reselect the iMac internal 56K. (this is to reset/refresh the modem type).
  • Close the window.
  • Save the changes.

Step 2 - Setting TCP/IP

  • Configure the TCP/IP Control Panel with the Mondenet DNS numbers (206.191.48.2 & 3)
  • Set Connect Via to PPP.
Step 3 - Configuring Remote Access
  • Click on the Apple Menu
  • Select the Control Panels
  • Click on Remote Access:
  • Double click Setup:
  • Make sure your userID and password are set correctly.
  • Enter the Mondenet phone number in the Number box.
  • Click the Options button
  • Click on the Protocols tab
  • Set Use Protocol to PPP
  • Click OK
