Using CuteFTP
CuteFTP is a powerful and very easy to use FTP client for the PC.
The latest version is CuteFTP2.6, fixes all known bugs, and has numerous enhancements.
It contains most of the features you could want in an FTP client, as well as a user interface that resembles Windows Explorer:
-
The FTP Site Manager automatically launches in front of the main CuteFTP window.
-
This window simply allows you to select a pre-configured site to Connect to,
or you can also Add/Delete sites as well as folders from here.
- Click on Exit in this window
- you will be at the main CuteFTP window
- You can access the FTP Site Manager again by:
- clicking on the Book icon on the far left of the toolbar
- by pressing F4
- or by clicking on the FTP menu
- and then Site Manager.
- Click on Add site:
- The Site Label is the name of the connection
- Host Address is the server name
- the User ID is your the username
- Your password is put in the Password box.
All other boxes should be left blank, as the system automatically will place you in the "home" directory.
After making a connection, you will be given the status box, which relays any server information to you about your connection:
- Any login problems will be located in this log file
- Click the OK
When transferring files, the status of the current transfer is located in the bottom window, you can see:
- throughput
- filename
- time remaining, etc.
- Unless we host your domain, your webpage directory is public_html.
All your files should be uploaded there.
- The left panel is the local hard drive, and the right hand panel is the server file listing
